Do you charge a “studio fee”?
We do not! Our shop is all inclusive - the project cost includes your paints, clear glazing and firing - no studio fee required!
What other projects do you offer?
Painting pottery may be our bread and butter, but we love to expand our horizons with new things! Currently, we’re offering walk-in mosaic projects, stoneware, and scheduled clay sessions in addition to our every day pottery painting. Give us a call for more information!
Do you offer classes and events?
Absolutely! Check out our events calendar to find out what’s going on!
Can I bring my own pottery to paint or be fired?
That’s a negative, friend. We scour the land to find the very best pottery, glazes, and supplies to guarantee you a quality piece and experience - come give our studio a go, you won’t be disappointed!
We do not fire outside pottery or projects - due to a variety of clay body firing temperatures and glaze fits, only pottery pieces purchased from our studio and painted with our glazes can be fired in our on-site kiln.
Will you call when my project is ready?
We’ll give you a pick up date based on your project at checkout. While we do not call when pieces are ready, you do have the option of opting into an automatic text and/or we will issue you a receipt to make claiming your pieces super easy! Simply bring us your physical/digital receipt or pick up text and we will get you taken care of!
We have a 30 Day Pick Up Policy… Once ready, we’re happy to store your works of any kind for up to 30 days. After that, they’ll be put on display at the great pottery farm in the sky.
Where are you located?
We are located at 103 Cherokee Blvd in the Northshore area of Chattanooga, behind Big Chill Bar and Grill. Our shop entrance can be found facing the parking garage, near the stairs.
If coming from downtown, turn left on to Cherokee Blvd and we’ll be located just one light down, at Cherokee and Velma, on your right. Look for our logo on the side of the building and you’ll know you’re in the right spot!
What are your operating hours?
Walk-in painting hours are hosted Monday-Saturday from 12 noon to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. Last seating for new projects is 1 hour prior to the posted closing time.
Note: Our studio is available to rent for field trips, corporate events, and other large volume events prior to opening.
Do I need a reservation?
Not at all! We are a walk-in painting studio - first come, first serve! With over 70 seats, we have plenty of space to accommodate your crew; groups of up to 8 can even be sat at the same table.
Got a group of 8 or more? Looking to host a kid’s birthday party? Make a reservation for our party space and have your own zone to paint it up in!How Much Does it Cost?
Depends on your tastes and budget! We have pieces starting at $4 (for something like a 3” letter) and going all the way up to $150 (for something like a giant ceramic light-up tree), with our most popular items being between $26 and $42. There are no extra fees to participate - just the cost of your chosen project!
Who can I talk to about off-sites?
Off-site events are SO much fun, and easy-breezy to set up. Shoot us an email here with what you’re thinking and our event coordinator will be in touch with you asap!
Is parking available?
While street parking is always complementary, garage parking (located behind Big Chill at Kent and Velma Street) is available for a fee per hour.
Looking for extra parking? Try the lot at Renaissance Park where fees are $1 to $6 depending on the hours parked -we’re just a quick skip away!
Is there an age limit?
Pottery painting is fun for everyone! Walk-in painters 12 and under require adult supervision; please refer to individual classes for specific age policies.
How long does painting take?
That’s totally up to you and the complexity of your project(s)! Many of our guests spend all day crafting the perfect piece, but we say 1.5 to 2 hours is a standard painting session. Due to the length of the process, we suggest arriving no later than 1.5 hours prior to our posted closing time for optimal results. It’s brushes down at close but we’re happy to wrap your items up to return another day to finish up; there is $3 studio fee for each additional session until your project is to your satisfaction.
NOTE: Last seating for new projects is 1 hour prior to the posted closing time
When will my project be ready?
Due to the drying and firing processes associated with ceramics and other kiln-based projects, painted bisque (pottery) earthenware pieces are ready for pick up 1 week after completion. For example, if you paint on Friday your kiln fired projects will be ready for pick up the following Friday.
NOTE: Clay, Stoneware, Specialty and Shipped items may take
an additional 1 to 3 weeks processing time.
Do You Ship?
Yes! Shipping is available for most of our pieces for an additional fee. The cost depends on what you paint but typically ranges from $10-$35 per address.
